The Medilink air ambulance experience
Quality has always been the main focus for Medilink International, delivering high standards of medical care and customer experience. These are the elements that have been embedded in the MIAA Project.
The MIAA team is an integrated team of professionals, each with his/her own area of expertise, who work together under one roof, with the purpose of delivering this quality experience. Team members are further cross-trained creating a holistic mode of operation. The team coordinates its efforts to focus on patient care, medical and flight training/standards, safe and efficient flight operations and excellent customer service.
All medical personnel that form part of the flight crews are proven professionals, with aero-medical training. Within dedicated air ambulance flights, the crew's main focus is the care of the patient.
MIAA applies the same standards when delivering its other services including stretcher patients or medical escorts on scheduled airline flights or when transporting organs that need to be delivered as fast as possible to hospitals for the final transplant operation.
Services Offered:
- Dedicated air ambulance service (bed to bed)
- Dedicated air ambulance service - neonatal Medevac
- Medical escort on scheduled airline flights
- Medical escort on scheduled airline flights with stretcher
- Combo Medevac using dedicated air ambulance and scheduled airline flights
- Transport of organs for organ transplant
Base location
Medilink’s base location is Malta.
Malta is a southern European country which consists of an archipelago situated centrally in the Mediterranean, 93 km south of Sicily and 288 km north-east of Tunisia, with Gibraltar 1,826 km to the west and Alexandria 1,510 km to the east.
Throughout history, Malta's location has given it great strategic importance, and a sequence of cultures including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Fatimids, Sicilians, Knights of St John, French, and British have all left their footprints on the islands.
This strategic location is still of great importance today and it allows MIAA to maximise its geographic coverage and provide for rapid dispatching anywhere within the Mediterranean, Africa, and Europe.
More about Malta
Malta has a long history of providing quality health care. The first hospital recorded in the country was already functioning by 1372.
Due to the country's formation, basically a collection of islands, the use of aircrafts for Medical Evacuation is quite common place in Malta: a regular practice in patient care. Today, Malta has a very strong medical emergency response culture, with great experience in Medevac patient transport.
Malta was ranked number five in the World Health Organization's ranking of the world's health systems.
Also, due to a number of favourable conditions, Malta has established itself as an aircraft maintenance hub in the Mediterranean. Operations such as Lufthansa Technik, Medavia, and Swiss-based SR Technics, have fully or partially moved their operations to Malta International Airport, also the MIAA operational base. This ensures top quality maintenance for the Medilink fleet, providing added safety to their missions for both crew and patients.
