Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with skin disorders such
as lumps, ulcers, eczema, acne and skin cancer. A dermatologist can deal with many different types of
skin disorder: this may involve treatment for skin cancer or the
diagnosis and treatment of skin eruptions and skin rashes. They can
also investigate and treat conditions such as acne, hair disorders, and
skin allergy.
Techniques used by dermatologists and skin specialists include
procedures such as micrographic surgery, laser surgery, photodynamic
therapy (PDT) and cosmetic procedures using botulinum toxin, soft tissue
fillers, and sclerotherapy.
