Cardiologists and heart specialists

Cardiology is the branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the heart and blood vessels and is commonly divided into congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology. Doctors who specialise in treating heart disorders are called cardiologists.

Cardiologists do not perform cardiac surgery and should not be confused with cardiac surgeons who perform operations on the heart and blood vessels.
